Introduction There are different types of discrimination against a job applicant or an employee. It is prohibited by law to make biased decisions based on preconception to group of people according to a certain race, national origin, class, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, age, disabilities, genetic information etc. All developed countries have an advanced legislation to protect job applicants and employees against different types of discrimination in many types of work situations such as hiring, firing, promotions, harassment, training, wages and benefits. This paper examines issues associated with the main forms of discrimination. We will focus on these issues using the example of the USA. Title I and Title V of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). It protects individuals with disabilities from discrimination; 5. There is a special organization in the USA (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or EEOC) which oversees and coordinates all federal equal employment opportunity regulations, practices and policies. This governmental institution ensures an implementation of these laws in the U.S (http://www.eeoc.gov/eeoc/index.cfm). One of the main functions of this organization is preventing discrimination with the help of special technical assistant programs. Investigation of charges with discrimination is another function of this institute. This organization also has a power to bring charges if it found out that a case of discrimination occurred. Alcohol Ruins Lives: As Shown By Raymond CarverÃ¢â¬â¢s Short Stories What We Talk About When We Talk About Love is a collection of short stories by Raymond Carver. Named Ã¢â¬Å"One of the true contemporary masters,Ã¢â¬ by Robert Towers of The New York Times Review of Books, Carver creates fiction that opens the readerÃ¢â¬â¢s eyes to a seldom spoken of, but all too real, part of American life. Alcoholism, and its ability to destroy families and escalate domestic disputes into violence, was a common theme throughout CarverÃ¢â¬â¢s short stories. The drive that she takes symbolizes the narrator leaving her life. For example, Ã¢â¬Å"As we pass the school, where children strove,Ã¢â¬ (9) Dickinson exemplifies life. What could be more alive than children playing? The Ã¢â¬Å"gazing grainÃ¢â¬ is also the ultimate sign of life. Both of these images show growth and peacefulness. As they continue to pass scenes, they start to get a little more ominous, like Ã¢â¬Å"the dews grew quivering and chillÃ¢â¬ (14) and the Ã¢â¬Å"house that seemed a swelling of the groundÃ¢â¬ (15-16). This house is a coffin, so in effect; the narrator is able to review the various stages of life before passing into death for eternity. Dickinson is able to do this with the extended metaphor throughout the poem and her powerful choice of diction is describing the various stages. These strong images Dickinson particularly chose in order for the reader to be able to Ã¢â¬Å"seeÃ¢â¬ her journey. Ultimately DickinsonÃ¢â¬â¢s entire characterization of death is done in contrast to what the reader already believes about death. The Ã¢â¬Å"civilityÃ¢â¬ part is the line that really throws the reader as that line is in such contrast with what is typically written about death. The whole idea that the carriage arrives to pick her up, and then drives slowly on so that the narrator can see all the various scenes from the carriage itself. The narrator is able to kind of sum up her life in a way with the vivid images provided from the carriage window. And eventually the carriage arrives at its destinationÃ¢â¬âimmortality. This entire description of death is in contrast to what is typically written or visualized about death. In this poem of contrast, Emily Dickinson is able to explore two abstract ideasÃ¢â¬âmortality and eternity, as she makes her way from one toward the other. Emily Dickinson, a poet known for breaking some rules in American poetry, provides the reader with her famous Ã¢â¬Å"Because I Could Not Stop for Death. Ã¢â¬ Through her powerful use of diction, imagery, and contrast, she is able to make the reader re-think the entire concept of death and how people die. The poems nothings changed Essay Compare and contrast the injustice shown I the poems Nothings Changed and Not My business look at content, language, structure and themes. A theme of injustice in nothings changed was apartheid. A definition of apartheid is; Apartheid is a system of racial segregation that was enforced in South Africa from 1948 to 1994 (wikipeidia). When apartheid was on blacks and whites were completely separated, they couldnt use any of the same public facilities, in one case a world war II veteran called Isaac Woodward had his eyes gouged out for using a white only restroom. The poem was one of many statements against apartheid, a song something inside so strong by Ladi Siffe. The author of nothings changed was Tatamkhulu Afrika (grandfather Afrika), this however was not his real name it was one given to him by the African National Congress, which were basically a terrorist group; Nelson Mandela was also part of this group. He was born in Egypt and moved to south Afrika as a very young child. He was a very strong willed man because he could have been classified as white and had many more luxuries; however he became Muslim and wasnt classified as white. He also uses assonance, the repetition of vowels as in seeding and heels. in the tall purple flowering amiable weeds the word amiable, another use of personification, meaning that it is friendly, this could symbolise that the only friendly thing left after it was bulldozed was weeds. In stanza two he is describing his feelings towards district six and how nothing says it but the country is still racist, no board says it: but my feet know he uses personification here to show that he doesnt have to think about it, it is an instinct. He also implies that he has to struggle just to be their, the soft labouring of my lungs this means that he could be nervous and is find is it hard to breathe. There is a large focus the speakers senses in this stanza, this implies that he knows that apartheid still exists even though there is no visible evidence.

The Bay of Pigs Invasion. The story of the failed invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs is one of mismanagement, overconfidence, and lack of security. The blame for the failure of the operation falls directly in the lap of the Central Intelligence Agency and a young president and his advisors. The fall out from the invasion caused a rise in tension between the two great superpowers and ironically 34 years after the event, the person that the invasion meant to topple, Fidel Castro, is still in power. To understand the origins of the invasion and its ramifications for the future it is first necessary to look at the invasion and its origins. Part I: The Invasion and its Origins. The Bay of Pigs invasion of April 1961, started a few days before on April 15th with the bombing of Cuba by what appeared to be defecting Cuban air force pilots. At 6 a.m. in the morning of that Saturday, three Cuban military bases were bombed by B-26 bombers. The airfields at Camp Libertad, San Antonio de ! los Baos and Antonio Maceo airport at Santiago de Cuba were fired upon. Seven people were killed at Libertad and forty-seven people were killed at other sites on the island. Two of the B-26s left Cuba and flew to Miami, apparently to defect to the United States. The Cuban Revolutionary Council, the government in exile, in New York City released a statement saying that the bombings in Cuba were ". . . carried out by 'Cubans inside Cuba' who were 'in contact with' the top command of the Revolutionary Council . . . ." The New York Times reporter covering the story alluded to something being wrong with the whole situation when he wondered how the council knew the pilots were coming if the pilots had only decided to leave Cuba on Thursday after " . . . a suspected betrayal by a fellow pilot had precipitated a plot to strike . . . ." LetÃ¢â¬â¢s look at the basics youÃ¢â¬â¢ll need.Pre-organize your meeting or event.Before you get started, make sure you understand everything youÃ¢â¬â¢ll need to have in place. People tend to skim or glaze over large chunks of narrative text and may miss some crucial information. If there are any next steps that are required from any meeting attendees, make sure those are presented clearly so that everyone understands whatÃ¢â¬â¢s expected of them.If youÃ¢â¬â¢re organizing the meeting for a boss or someone else and you wonÃ¢â¬â¢t be attending t he meeting yourself, be sure to ask if that person wants you to send out any notes or follow-up correspondence to the group.
